Tryout Applications: 2016 U.S. Men’s U-19 Team
Tryouts will be held June 29-July 1, 2015, at Stevenson University in Owings Mills, Md. All high school and college players born between Sept. 1, 1996, and July 6, 2000, are eligible and encouraged to apply.
Completed applications are to be returned directly to US Lacrosse by Friday, April 24, with a copy of the playerâs birth certificate and a $50 application fee check. A committee of 12 coaches, including high school area chairs, former U19 coaches, college coaches and the current U19 coaching staff, will review applications. The player pool for the June tryout will be announced on Friday, May 29. Those selected for the tryout will be required to confirm attendance by Friday, June 5, by returning a more detailed application and the tryout fee.
In February, US Lacrosse announcedÂ Ohio State University head coach Nick MyersÂ as head coach of the U.S. Menâs Under-19 National Team. Myers will lead the team in its quest for an eighth consecutive world title at theÂ Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) World Championship, July 7-16, 2016, inÂ Coquitlam, British Columbia.
The U.S. Menâs U19 team has amassed a 41-2 all-time record in international play, claiming gold in each of the seven U19 World Championship events to date (1988, 1992, 1996, 1999, 2003, 2008, 2012). Team USA defeated Canada 10-8 in the gold medal game to capture the 2012 World Championship in Turku, Finland.
